Reconfigure, Reconsider

Brain of water

Wet cement

Drip drip

Down the drain

Dig for gold

Drink the syrup

Milk milk fire

This is not the dewdrop

Mountain climbs atop the boulder

Tree trees lemonade silver

Water wavers skirt the surf

Drink the salt and dredge the swamp

Dredge this swamp of ocean litter

Let the sea cold shimmer

I want the world back

I want the world back to where it was

I want those old friends back

The missing bees and the

bears and the dodos and

the dinosaurs and the

The raptors and the

mustelids

But I know that I can’t

turn back the clock

And go back to the

Mesozoic Era

So since we can’t

go back to yesteryear

Can we at least create

Newer year for all the

birds and beasts

And all of us

A brand new clock

With no silicon required

No digital numbers

Just serenity

And being one

With the soil

And the wind

And the trees
