Fisher’s Dream

by Malcolm, under Poetry

I ran at searing pace

Legs inflaming dead leaves

Their corpses a clear sign

Of a unwitting killer

Long sullen branches

Reached out to grasp

Hold me tight in warm embrace

Protecting from forbidden fruit

The moon had now gone away

As if refusing to look me in the eye

Time’s just mists cradled stars that lay

Though, of pure core, I couldn’t fathom why

The trees finally caved in to foolish demands

Heartbroken, allowing wander to the nothing

Laying beyond their loving earthly hands

I emerged, rough breaths now hushing

A silent clearing was what rested beyond

Where even the grass didn’t sing songs

Reaching longingly towards azure waters

Only to be deprived by sand, the loneliest of trotters

As I raised my head, my eyes met another

Identical, yet so very different in colors

Entombed in a purple dark shroud

Sitting on a dock, surrounded by clouds

Quietly fishing with no care at all

But then, an understanding did fall

Two strangers, face to face

In one very brief moment

Glimpsed a slight trace

Of who and what was

The moon emerging

Reflected in each other’s eyes
